We watched 40 Year Old Virgin on Direct TV this weekend and it got us thinking: do people actually think they can sell all that stuff on Ebay? The auction site isn’t the free for all it used to be and you’ve got to have something good to get it sold. Here are a few ideas for what NOT to waste your time on
VERY Used Merchandise: Unless we’re talking about a Tiffany lamp, no one wants to buy your years old, heavily used item. If it’s not practically new you’re going to have a hard time unloading it so think twice about putting it up for sale.
Cheap Stuff: Sure, Ebay used to be the place to clean out your attic but don’t try to sell every cheap item individually. Instead consider putting like items together and selling them as a set (300 Beanie Babies at once, for example) and watch your sales explode.
Items Too Late: We’re talking about tickets and items that are only useful for a certain period – you’ve got time this out. Put them up at least a month ahead of time so potential buyers won’t be scared off by shipping times

Shopping on Ebay is a great way for you to save money on countless items. Knowing a few key facts can aid you in getting the most for your money on the site. Ebay regulars follow a few guidelines to help them to be able to snag the best deals. Some of these guidelines include creating a watchlist, sorting prices by lowest to highest, and viewing seller ratings. These tips can benefit you in finding your product at the lowest price.

Creating a watchlist is an important tip in auction shopping. Every item will have an option labeled “add to watchlist.” When you add it, you will be able to keep an eye on the product’s auction activities. Another good tip is to choose the “sort by prices lowest to highest” option. This will enable you to see the cheapest prices, including shipping charges, for your product.

Seller ratings provide a way to find trusted sellers. People with a higher rating score and a large number of sales have a proven track record of satisfying customers. Keep in mind, however, that a new seller with only a few or no sales does not necessarily mean that they are untrustworthy. The main sellers that may pose a potential threat are the ones with incredibly low ratings and many sales.Still bored?

Anyone who has shopped on Ebay has been in the following predicament. With seconds to go you are the highest bidder waiting excitedly to receive your confirmation e-mail and pay for your new product. Only to refresh your screen and see the ‘You have been outbid’ notification. In the Ebay world of bidding terms this is referred to as bid sniping. There are several methods to go about bid sniping.

Use your ‘watch list’ in Ebay and make sure you login during the last five minutes of the auction. Set a reminder alarm in your phone, computer, etc. if you really do not want to miss your item. I recommend putting a feeler bid out when the auction is around the five minute countdown until end of auction. In other words, you want to make sure that your competition has not placed a maximum bid that is significantly above the current bid. Once you have established a live bid atmosphere with your competition, wait until the last twenty seconds of the auction and place your final bid. If you have a competitive bidding environment you need to bid higher than the ‘must bid higher than’ amount. This is to ensure that you are not outbid by a competitive bid occuring simultaneously to your bid.

There are computer generated website services that perform Ebay bid sniping activities for you, but I prefer to do this on my own because of the fun and excitement. Happy Bidding!

eBay can be a great place to snag a great deal on many different things. You can use the site to its full advantage by following a few different tips. First and foremost do your research on items before you place your first bid. It is important to know what you are looking for and compare prices outside of eBay first. Once you know what you are looking for and have a good idea of the various prices offered it is time to head onto the site. It is important to begin with a general search on your item to get an overall feel for the pricing and items that will be showing up.

You then can narrow down this search by entering various additional search terms such as color or price. Once you have found a few listings that interested you take a good look at them reading their descriptions very carefully. It is also important to check the sellers feedback to ensure you are working with a reputable seller. Once you have located all of these things find that great deal and bid on it. To build a good reputation after you win an item and receive it always leave feedback for the seller.

eBay has evolved over the years from a simple online auction site into a dynamic internet marketplace. To ensure a transaction worthy of “positive” feedback, keep a few smart strategies in mind when making purchases.

Check the “Buy It Now” Price

eBay still continues to offer traditional auctions, and actions ofter offer the best bargains. However, to be sure that you are not overbidding, see what sellers in the fixed price, or “Buy It Now”, marketplaces are asking for the same product.Want more? Click here/tag To do this, perform a search for your item. Then, on the toolbar to the left of your screen locate the “Buying Formats” and click “Buy It Now.”

Locate Completed Auctions

Look at completed auctions to see what other buyers have paid for similar items. A transaction or sale which has been completed is called a “Completed Auction.” You must log in to access this feature, but it is worth it to ensure you pay a fair price.

Bid Late

Wait until the final moments of an auction to bid. Otherwise, you are only driving up the price by allowing other customers to bid against you.

Check a Seller’s Feedback

Look at the feedback for all sellers. It may be worth paying one ore two dollars more for an item to ensure a smooth transaction. Feedback is given by both parties in a transaction. Reputable sellers have positive feedback which is close to 100 percent.
